Die Band entstand aus drei Vierteln der seit 1993 bestehenden HC-Band '''[[Crude B.E.]]''' (= Crude But Effective), nachdem deren Schlagzeuger Loffi 2001 einen längeren Afrika-Trip begonen hatte. Andere lokale Bands und Projekte, an denen die Musiker vorher und teilweise parallel zu '''Chainbreaker''' beteiligt waren, hießen '''[[Altenburg 76]]''', '''[[Y]]''', '''[[Stalker]]''', '''[[Solid Decline]]''' und '''[[Cyness]]'''. 2004 gründeten Flo (wieder als Gitarrist) und der "heimgekehrte" Drummer Loffi parallel die Sludge/Doom-Band '''[[Crowskin]]'''.

Die Band entstand aus drei Vierteln der seit 1993 bestehenden HC-Band Crude B.E. (= Crude But Effective), nachdem deren Schlagzeuger Loffi 2001 einen längeren Afrika-Trip begonnen hatte. Nach Loffis Rückkehr (2003) gab es bis 2005 eine Neuauflage von Crude B.E. parallel zu Chainbreaker.
Andere lokale Bands und Projekte, an denen die Musiker teilweise parallel zu Chainbreaker beteiligt waren, hießen Solid Decline, Cyness und Cold War.
Radio Schizo war ein Bandprojekt des ehemaligen Sängers Tino Schulz, zusammen mit Wonny spielte er außerdem ab 2000 bei den als Frown gegründeten Confessed Crime (fleißige Liveband wahrscheinlich ohne Veröffentlichungen, 2010 aufgelöst, siehe auch hier).
2004 gründeten Flo (wieder als Gitarrist) und der "heimgekehrte" Drummer Loffi parallel die Sludge/Doom-Band Crowskin. Die späteren Projekte von Stolle hießen Complete Crap und NOXe, Frösi spielte bei den Balotellis und seit 2015 bei Zirkus Zirkus.
